Government subsidy program, up to HK$80,000
The Government provides financial assistance to needy owner-occupiers (including the elderly) to repair and maintain their own flats and common areas and improve building safety. The Government has introduced the "Property Repair Grant Scheme for the Needy". The Scheme provides a repair grant of up to $80,000 to each eligible owner-occupier and his or her legal spouse (if married).
Basic application qualifications:
Applicants must hold a valid Hong Kong identity card;
The applicant must be the owner of a domestic unit in a domestic or composite building;
The applicant and his/her spouse (if married) must both live in the property;
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: i. Elderly persons aged 60 or above who meet the income and asset limits; ii. Recipients of Old Age Living Allowance; iii. Recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance; or iv. Recipients of Disability Allowance who meet the income and asset limits;
The applicant must not be a bankrupt person who has not been discharged from bankruptcy.
